It’s Friday!  Woohoo! Let’s get messy-yummy-goodness and dirty your white shirt with this scrumptious burger!

On the menu: Protein Style Turkey Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and Sweet & Spicy Pickled Cucumber Chips turkey burger

What you need:

  1. lean turkey 20oz
  2. 1/2 cup flax seed meal
  3. 1 egg
  4. 1/2 cup organic ketchup
  5. 1/4 soy sauce
  6. finely chopped garlic
  7. finely chopped onions
  8. fresh pepper
  9. cheddar cheese
  10. red leaf lettuce, or any large leaf lettuce
  11. sweet potato fries from Trader Joes
  12. cucumbers
  13. jalopeno peppers
  14. bay leaves
  15. dill
  16. 1/4 cup sugar
  17. 1 cup of apple cider vinegar

Put it together:

First make the pickled peppers (original recipe from Rachael Ray): Bring to boil 1 cup water, 1 cup vinegar, and 1/4 cup sugar.  While vinegar boils, chop cucumbers in thick diagonal slices, slice jalapeno peppers in slices, mix in bowl with chopped dill and layer a Tupperware: place one layer peppers/cucumbers mix, put a bay leaf, add 2nd layer of cucumbers/peppers, then add bay leaf, continue layers to brim.  Pour vinegar over and refrigerate for 1 hour or more.  I prefer to have this marinate overnight, but 1 hour is good.

Burger: mix turkey meat with flax seed meal, egg, ketchup, soy, garlic, onions, and fresh pepper then make into patties.  Cook on grill and when almost done place cheese on top to melt.

As your grilling burgers, place sweet potatoes in oven to cook.

Prepare plate with large leaf lettuce, slice tomatoes, and other condiments.  Serve with pickled chips and fries- voila!

Make extra, some may want more than 1 burger 😀

The macronutrient ratios for the Metabolic Typing Types:

Protein Type: 70% proteins & fats (40/30) / 30% carbohydrates

Carbohydrate Type: 60% carbohydrates / 40% proteins & fats (25/15)

Mix-Type: 50% carbohydrates / 50% proteins & fats (30/20)
